Terms of use
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms cover your use of MCP Licensing ("we", "us"). By using the service or its API you agree to them.
The service
MCP Licensing answers license checks for software you distribute and lets you manage the licenses behind those answers. It is a beta: features, limits and these terms may change, and we give no uptime guarantee. Build your tool so that a temporary outage does not stop it (the docs show how).
Your responsibilities
- Keep your API keys secret and tell us if one leaks. You are responsible for what is done with them.
- Use the service only for lawful software licensing. Do not use it to hide malware, to harass people, or to collect personal data you have no right to collect.
- Do not attack, overload or probe the service, or try to reach another tenant's data. Stay within the published limits.
- You decide what your licenses allow and how you treat your customers. We are not a party to your agreements with them.
- Tell your customers that their tool contacts a licensing service, and what it sends (a license key and a device id). Our privacy page describes our side.
Suspension and ending
We may suspend or end access, including disabling a tenant and its licenses, if these terms are broken, if the service is being abused, or to protect it or others. You may stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your tenant.
No warranty and limit of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost data, or for any loss caused by the service being unavailable or answering incorrectly, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the previous 12 months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms and will change the date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
